The Ukrainian president reminded his Polish colleague about the planes and tanks that Poland has and which can now turn the tide of the war. Otherwise, there is a risk of Russia attacking Europe.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is disappointed that the Soviet-made aircraft that Eastern European countries, in particular Poland, have not yet been transferred to Ukraine. He said this during a video conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Saturday, March 26, the press service of the Presidential Office reports.
He recalled that both these countries and the United States publicly declared their readiness for such a decision.
“The price of delay with aircraft is thousands of Ukrainian lives that we are losing from missile and air strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities,” Zelensky said.
According to him, aircraft, tanks and long-range air defense systems would allow Ukraine to really protect freedom throughout the territory and turn the tide of hostilities.
“If partners do not help Ukraine with planes and tanks, and they have such capabilities, there is a high risk that Russian troops will create not only a missile threat to the territory of our neighbors – friendly Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and the Baltic countries, but also direct combined arms. On their borders, under their cities. And they will go further,” Zelensky said.
It is noted that when the conversation between the presidents was coming to an end, Lvov received an air strike by Russian missiles. Lviv is located 50 kilometers from the Polish border.
Zelensky also thanked his Polish colleague for receiving Ukrainian refugees.
Andrzej Duda said that to date, Poland has already received 2.3 million Ukrainians. According to him, the country provides them with everything they need.
In addition, the presidents, as well as representatives of their offices, discussed the functioning of Ukraine’s energy systems in the unified energy network of Europe. The energy ministers of the two states were instructed to extend the consultations after the end of the conversation.
