Without Booster, These Three Types Of Covid-19 Vaccines Are Effective For Up To 8 Months

A total of three vaccine corona virus Covid-19 made by Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson exhibit a robust immune response for up to eight months without booster. In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine on Friday (15/10), researchers found signs that the three vaccines provide strong and long-lasting protection from the risk of disease severity.

However, this analysis suggests that there are differences in antibody production by the three vaccines. Antibodies from the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines spiked and then dropped rapidly. Meanwhile, antibodies from the Johnson & Johnson vaccine started at lower levels, but stabilized over time.

“By eight months, the antibody responses to the three vaccines were comparable,” said Dr. And Barouch as quoted from ABC News, Sunday (17/10).

This new study also compares not only antibodies, but also T-cells in the three vaccines. T-cells are an important part of the immune system and likely offer longer-lasting protection, even after antibodies drop.

If antibodies are often associated with infection prevention, then T-cells are more relevant to efforts to kill viruses. In addition, the T-cell response is thought to contribute to vaccine protection against severe disease.

“T-cell responses were relatively stable for all three vaccines over the next eight months,” Barouch said.
