So that it makes sense in terms of time – there are several years between the individual series – it has to Nexus here. The mystical energy band from the seventh “Star Trek” movie from 1994 breaks the boundaries of space, time and reality and brings the series heroes together.
Players are now facing quite a challenge: On the one hand, they and their growing crew have to complete increasingly difficult missions in the world of the Nexus. There is exploration, fighting and collecting. Depending on the composition, Captain Janeway, the Gorn, the Borg Queen and Michael Burnham stand side by side. A tough challenge for some Trek purists.
On the other hand, the ship and crew are being upgraded and trained. The raw materials collected on the missions are used for this. Unused crew members gain experience on shuttle missions and bring home plenty of latinum, protomatter or biomimetic gel. This is how the Starfleet heroes arm themselves.
The mix of round-the-clock combat, exploration and the story told through dialogues and stills is entertaining. “Legends” is one of the better versions of “Star Trek” as a video game.

Only the weak translation bothers. Android Data, for example, is lovelessly called “data” in the German version, and in the missions the text and the game do not always match. That would not have happened with the real universal translator from the series. Fans with appropriate language skills prefer to switch the language to English. If you play on the go, you should also take a power bank with you. The game burns through the battery like Captain Kirk’s phaser through soft rock.
Positive: Even if some game modes such as events or shuttle missions are somewhat reminiscent of the freemium mechanics of other games, “Star Trek: Legends” does not have any hidden costs. The online mode handled by the Game Center is also designed to be comparatively sparing in terms of data.
