Kevin Hunter Jr., the son of Wendy Williams, has made a shocking revelation about his mother’s health. In the two-part documentary series called “Where Is Wendy Williams?,” which aired on Lifetime, Hunter disclosed that Williams’ frontotemporal dementia can be attributed to her alcoholism. He mentioned that her excessive consumption of alcohol had a negative impact on her mental and cognitive abilities.

During the Sunday episode of the documentary series, Kevin Hunter Jr., aged 23, opened up about his mother’s condition. He stated, “I was able to really learn more about things going on with my mother internally.” He further emphasized the detrimental effects of alcohol on her mental well-being.

“[Doctors] basically said that because she was drinking so much, it was starting to affect her headspace and her brain,” Hunter shared in the “Where Is Wendy Williams?” docuseries.

Hunter shared the doctors’ diagnosis, “So, I think they said it was alcohol-induced dementia.”” Williams, who is 59 years old, was made aware of her brain damage in 2019 during her stint in a Florida rehab facility. However, it was not until 2023 that she received the official dementia and aphasia diagnosis.

Impact of the doctor’s diagnosis

Alex Finnie, Wendy Williams’ niece, revealed that her aunt’s health began deteriorating, affecting her memory and mental capabilities. Finnie mentioned that the challenging circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the loss of Williams’ mother, and her divorce from Kevin Hunter Sr. intensified her condition.

Despite Williams’ history of substance abuse, her former representative, Shawn Zanotti, dismissed concerns about her alcohol consumption during the docuseries. Zanotti asserted that Williams is aware of her limits.

Williams’ former attorney has cast doubt on her diagnoses, questioning if her health conditions are even genuine or a result of the court-ordered guardianship. LaShawn Thomas, the attorney, posted an older video on Instagram, showcasing Williams’ apparent well-being while in Florida, under the care of her son. Thomas reflected on the stark and sudden contrast in Williams’ health and questioned the access Williams’ son has to her after the guardianship.

Thomas expressed concerns, stating, “How did her health deteriorate so quickly, and why isn’t her only child allowed to be by her side. She wasn’t like that when he cared for [her].” The attorney claimed to have filmed Williams two weeks prior to the court-ordered move to New York that led to her placement under guardianship.
