The newspaper drew attention to the problems with the sale of electric Volkswagens Northwest Newspaper, to whom it was confirmed by the chairman of the works council of the Emden factory, Manfred Wulff. He stated that the carmaker is aware of the very lukewarm attitude of customers towards electric cars, which is probably the source of the aforementioned lower than originally planned demand. At the same time, for example, the ID.4 plant can produce up to 800 per day.
In response, Volkswagen will cancel the shift for the next two weeks and extend the originally three-week vacation for employees producing electric cars by one week. They start in two weeks. About 300 of the 1,500 temporary employees of the factory in northwest Germany will lose their jobs from August. Their contract will not be extended.
