NEW YORK – Police released a video of the man wanted for allegedly pushing a mother and her son down the stairs of a Manhattan subway station. The incident left the 58-year-old woman in critical condition, authorities announced.
The New York City Police noted that the mother and her son were exiting the subway station in Canal Street, before 11:00 am on Saturday, when an unidentified man, who was walking behind them, allegedly assaulted the mother and her son.
According to the uniformed officer, the suspect complained about the 22-year-old victim’s backpack before pushing him down the stairs. Then, the police said, the suspect turned his attention to the victim’s mother and made her fall down the stairs.
The 58-year-old woman ended up with a severe head injury and was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, police said. His son was not seriously injured.
The Uniformed stressed that the suspect fled the station. NYPD’s Asian Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the facts.
