Vaccination in Colombia: the week begins to apply various biological – Health

This was announced by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection established a vaccination intensification plan with all biologics included in the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI)which includes vaccination against covid-19.

The body expressed through a statement that the week of intensification is expected from December 12 to 17, the latter being the busiest day.

The Colombian vaccination program has 21 vaccines that protect against 29 diseases, in addition to those already established against covid-19, the application of which began on February 17, 2021 in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccines are aimed at all age groups, from early childhood to the elderly, including pregnant women.

The health portfolio has determined that all newborns should be vaccinated against hepatitis B and tuberculosis (BCG), children aged 2, 4, 6, 7, 12, 18 months and 5 years must also complete their vaccination schedules with the pentavalent, triple virus, polio, Rotavirus, Pneumococcus and DPT (against diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus). Similarly, girls ages 9 to 17 can prevent cervical cancer by getting vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV).

Similarly, for boys and girls between the ages of 1 and 11, yellow fever vaccine and for those born between 2010 and 2019 who are waiting to receive the extra dose of measles and rubella.

In pregnant women who are in week 12, the covid-19 vaccine can be applied; at week 14, against the flu and from week 26, with the TDP vaccine.

Similarly, girls and women aged 10 to 49 should be vaccinated against diphtheria and tetanus (TD), and against influenza all adults over the age of 50, people with comorbidities and human talent in health.

The yellow fever vaccination will instead be available for the population between 12 and 59 who have not yet received the single dose and who live in the municipalities at risk.

In the end, The body has announced that the vaccination against covid-19 will be aimed at boys and girls aged 3 to 5 with the Sinovac vaccine; from 6 to 11 years with Sinovac and Moderna, and from 12 to 17 years, with Pfizer, Moderna and Sinovac vaccines. In the case of people over the age of 18, all the biologics available in the existing portfolio in the country can be used.
