Ukraine and Russia held the largest exchange of prisoners

Defenders of Azovstal

During the exchange, 144 Ukrainian soldiers were released, most of them defenders of Azovstal.

During the exchange of prisoners, 144 defenders of Ukraine were released, reports on Wednesday, June 29, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

This is the biggest exchange since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Of the 144 released – 95 defenders of Azovstal. Among them are 43 servicemen of the Azov regiment.

Generally released:

  • 59 National Guard soldiers,

  • 30 – Naval Forces,

  • 28 – Armed Forces of Ukraine,

  • 17 – State Border Service,

  • 9 – Territorial defense,

  • 1 – National Police.

Among the released are 23 officers and 69 non-commissioned officers and senior officers. The eldest of the dismissed was 65 years old, the youngest – 19.

It is noted that most of the released soldiers have severe injuries: gunshot and shrapnel, explosive injuries, burns, fractures, amputations of limbs.

All of them receive proper emergency medical and psychological assistance.

The day before, another exchange of prisoners according to the formula 17 for 15.

Earlier in the intelligence said that defenders of Mariupol will be released step by step.
