“Following the adoption on June 30 of the European recommendation which authorizes the gradual lifting of restrictions on non-essential travel from around fifteen countries outside the European Union, Belgium has started its consultations with experts from the public services concerned to lead to a careful reopening of its borders, “said Minister Goffin.
As a reminder, the countries concerned are Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay. The China This will be added if EU + citizens are also allowed to travel to China for non-essential travel.
But two measures are effective today.
– “Belgium is now accepting an extension of the list of essential voyages authorized to 4 categories: sailors, persons participating in meetings of international organizations, students and highly qualified personnel whose work cannot be carried out remotely (taking into account the visa procedures which are currently in force) “.
– “Furthermore, the EU citizens and third country nationals legally residing in the European Union, as well as their family members, can travel wherever they want in the EU +, including Belgium, and no longer only in their country of residence ”.
