Retail workers are increasingly confronted with irresponsible behavior from certain customers, who do not respect health and safety measures. They call for a civic surge of the population, relays the SETCa on Tuesday.

The sectoral agreement reached in November between Comeos, the federation of retail employers, and the unions provided for a series of additional measures to protect the safety of workers during this pandemic period. “But in fact, we see that these rules are not always sufficient in the face of the casual and disrespectful attitude of some customers,” said the socialist union.
The most telling example is the principle of “1 trolley per customer: members of the same family do not hesitate to each take a trolley before then meeting in a particular area of the store, thus blocking all passage and preventing any possibility of social distancing ”, illustrates the SETCa.
Employers are trying, for their part, to regulate the flow of consumers, by calling on security firms or automatic control systems. But there are hiccups in the operation. And “workers have to deal daily with the aggressiveness of certain customers when they are called to order for non-compliance with barrier gestures”, adds the union.
As the holidays approach, workers say they are saturated. They call for respect for the rules, for the work of others but also of the other.
