The rollover of a ‘jeep’ in Cuba causes the death of a woman and eight injuries

A woman died and eight injured, including three children, was left this Saturday by the overturning of a jeep in Levisa, in front of the Combinado Lácteo bridge, in the Holguín municipality of Mayarí. According to the Facebook page, Realities from Holguínone of the children was reported in “serious condition.”

The minors were taken to the Pediatric Hospital and two of the adults are being treated in Mayarí.

In the Matanzas municipality of Limonar, an accident left six dead and twenty injured, including a 10-year-old boy with serious brain trauma.

“A traffic accident of such magnitude had not occurred in the province since December 27 of the previous year, when a semi bus overturned in Los Arabos,” the authorities said.

During the months of June to Augustmore than 1,000 traffic accidents occurred in Cuba, leaving 72 dead and 543 injured, according to information from the Specialized Traffic Body of the General Directorate of the National Police.

According to official data, from 2019 to 2022, the number of traffic accidents that have occurred in the country amounts to 2,747, of which 207 have taken place in Matanzas. Several publications on social networks have used these events as a warning to the country’s drivers, especially at the end of the year, when many “drive drunk.”
