And credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s warned on Friday that the pandemic could cost the Asia-Pacific economies this year $ 211 billion and could reduce its growth to its lowest level in more than a decade.

The World Tourism Organization also expected the number of fences in the world to decrease in 2020 by 1% to 3%, which means a loss between “30 to 50 billion dollars”.

Friday, China was still working to contain the spread of the virus with 30 new deaths recorded, the lowest number of infections in 24 hours since February 27.

In China, where the virus first appeared in late December, there were 80,552 infections and 3,042 deaths, and tens of millions of people were isolated.

The re-opening of the province of Hubei

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Chinese government, Ding Xiangyang, on Friday hinted at the possibility of the re-opening of the Hubei province soon, more than a month after it closed in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

“The day that everyone is waiting for should not be far,” he told a news conference.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michel Bachelet, said on Friday that measures taken to combat the epidemic should respect human rights and be “proportionate to the estimated risk”.
