the most streamed rappers in history on Spotify

Great artists complete this top 10.

Streaming has taken such a huge place in the music industry today (and mainly in the rap industry) that most of the “sales” recorded for an album are in fact “stream equivalents”. A song is listened to more via streaming platforms than via physical formats (CD single 2 titles as at the time) which means that the new bosses of the musical game are no longer the record companies, but indeed the platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer. Precisely, Spotify has just unveiled its streaming data to rank the most streamed artists since the creation of the platform.

The ranking was developed by Chart Data. Unsurprisingly, in first place we find the commercial monster, the incredible Drake which really conquered the entire music industry during the previous decade, with 49.7 billion streams. A podium completed by Ed Sheeran (29.8 billion plays) and Justin Bieber (26.1 billion). Two other rappers are also present in the top 10: they are Post Malone, with 24.19 billion plays on Spotify as well asEminem with 24.11 billion.

We also find in this ranking the enormous success of J Balvin, reggaeton star Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Rihanna. A fairly consistent top therefore, even if the presence of Eminem is surprising given the quality of his recent albums. This is proof that the Slim Shady remains a monster in the hearts of fans!
