In the south of the country, the overland tram will roll again from Friday on the ice-freed rails between Halle and Bad Dürrenberg. Line 5 of the Halle tram is the longest tram line in Germany and the last regional tram still in operation in Saxony-Anhalt. In the Wittenberg district, however, there are still restrictions and failures in bus traffic. Seven lines are still affected, including the widely used connection between Wittenberg and Dessau. According to the bus company Vetter, there is a lack of drivers. Several employees had to be quarantined because of suspected corona infection. How long the restrictions will remain is open. Minibuses now operate on some lines.

The SPD in Saxony-Anhalt is preparing its state list for the Bundestag election campaign in Magdeburg today. There is a vote for the top spot. The state executive proposed the former state chairman Katrin Budde, the Halle city association is for the Bundestag member Karamba Diaby. On Saturday, the party will meet for another party conference in Magdeburg to determine the candidates for the state election. According to the electoral law, this must be done at a classroom event.

Despite the lack of women in its parliamentary group, the CDU in Saxony-Anhalt is opposed to a quota regulation. General Secretary Sven Schulze emphasized in the MDR that many women did not want to be quota women. He received support from the chairwoman of the Junge Union, Anna Kreye, who also sits on the party’s federal executive committee. She said that what is more necessary is the will of the party leadership to promote different groups. So far, there are only two women among the 30 CDU members in the state parliament. On Saturday the CDU wants to decide on the list of candidates for the state elections at its state representative assembly in Dessau-Roßlau. The state executive proposed Reiner Haseloff for first place. Overall, however, the list is causing some discussion behind the scenes. One of the reasons is the proportion of women. There are only three female applicants in the top 20.
