The first top of the range 2021

Write down these three numbers: 28, 12, 888. They are the numbers of Xiaomi Mi 11, which arrives on the market on December 28, 2020, will be the first smartphone with SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and it will be the first real one top of the range of 2021, a few days ahead of Samsung Galaxy S21. The first taste, that is, of what awaits us in the high end of the smartphone market for the next twelve months.

The date of December 28 is official, because it was communicated by Xiaomi itself on the Chinese social network Weibo and on its website, showing its muscles and positioning itself as the first global company able to bring a device with Snapdragon 888 to the market. A milestone, but also a great responsibility since the platform is new and, inevitably, the first smartphones with SD 888 will hardly be thoroughly optimized. But Xiaomi focuses on the time factor and on all those who can’t wait to get their hands on a mobile phone equipped with the latest Qualcomm chip. Whose performance, apparently, they are really interesting.

Xiaomi Mi 11, how it will be

The heart of the Xiaomi Mi 11 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC clocked at 2.80 GHz, made with a 5 nm production process, flanked by 12 GB of RAM. The display will be curved in the Pro version and flat in the normal one (same choice as Samsung Galaxy S21) and with a hole in the upper left part, to accommodate the front camera.

The expected dimensions are 6.8 inches and the resolution of 3.200×1440 pixel, while the brightness should reach a very high peak: 1.500 nits.

The rear photographic department is dominated by a big one 108MP main lens, a slightly smaller secondary and a third sensor near the LED flash, all enclosed in a bumper slightly protruding from the rear body.

Connectivity will obviously be 5G, while the battery will be no less than 4,500 mAh, but it is not yet clear how fast the charging will be.

Xiaomi Mi 11, how powerful it will be

Everyone can’t wait to get their hands on the Xiaomi Mi 11 especially because it is the first production smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 888. The Mi 11, therefore, is the first test bench for the performance of Qualcomm’s new SoC.

The first benchmarks of this smartphone have already appeared on Geekbench and the results are excellent: 1135 in single core and 3642 in multi core. Currently the best results on Geekbench are recorded by the OnePlus 8, with 886 in single core and 3199 in multicore.
