Hello! Samsung TV Remote Made from Used Water Bottles

Suara.com – Samsung Electronics Indonesia announced the Going Green initiative through the use of eco-packaging and the presence of the SolarCell remote control on most products Samsung TV 2021.

“Not only creating breakthrough products that are useful in supporting consumer lifestyles, we are also trying to create a better future for all,” said Yoonsoo Kim, President, Samsung Electronics Indonesia, in his official statement, Monday (3/5/2021).

The Samsung TV initiative applies to remote controls that generally run on batteries. Single-use batteries themselves are classified as difficult to decompose and have the potential to become toxic waste.

Now, Samsung is designing a light-powered remote control, the SolarCell remote control that can charge from sunlight, indoor lighting, or charge via USB.

In addition to a single-use battery-free resource, the SolarCell remote control also contains 24 percent (approx. 31 grams) of recycled plastic material from used water bottles.

With an environmentally friendly energy source and composition, this remote control can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 14,000 tonnes and eliminate the use of 99 million AAA batteries during the seven years of the TV’s life.

In the midst of the trend of TVs with larger screen sizes, the packaging size has also increased and the appearance is busier, as an effort to branding and attract the attention of buyers.

Unfortunately, the bigger the packaging, the bigger the carbon footprint they leave behind. Starting in 2021, Samsung is expanding minimalist eco-packaging to even more new TV product lines to significantly reduce waste.

The use of eco-packaging can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 10,000 tons each year.

Eco-packaging also provides added value for materials that were previously considered used goods or even garbage.

This minimalist Samsung TV packaging can be upcycle, comes with a dot design that will help buyers cut and make creative projects with the family, such as children’s toys or even furniture and home decorations.

To reduce e-waste, Samsung creates durable and cutting-edge products, through continuous software updates and after-sales service improvements.
