On August 23, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran released a series of data received from the on-board voice recorder and flight data recorder of the UIA aircraft. According to the records, the crew knew about the emergency and tried to control the plane to the last.

On February 9, 2021, the Canadian television channel CBC News reported on an audio recording in which a man with a voice similar to that of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif called “not at all unlikely” a scenario in which the plane could be shot down on purpose… He also said that the truth about the tragedy will not be revealed at the level of the Iranian government and armed forces.
