The beginning of the relationship, today the years of the proven marriage of Martin and Martina Preiss, was not easy. Not only were both partners married at the time of their acquaintance, their relationship was also defended by Preisse’s parents, who did not like the new daughter-in-law for a long time and did not want her in the family!
“Where can two actors meet? We met at the theater. I met Martin there as a regular colleague from the ensemble. We were engaged for a long time, rehearsed many productions and only at the seventh, eighth I thought what was interesting. The beginning of the relationship was not exactly rosy, as Preiss themselves admits from a distance. “I was married, she was married,” Preiss recalls. “You forbid it to be momentary. But then you find out it’s not momentary,” his wife added, adding that the love affair had eventually grown into love.
The quadrangle was finally broken by the actress, who divorced in 2005 and moved together with Preiss. He divorced after 18 years of marriage three years later, in 2008. In the same year, Martina Preissová gave birth to his son Matouš.

Today, the couple are raising two sons together, and not only to Martin Preiss’ parents have proved that their relationship really stands on solid foundations.

In the end, Martina Preiss proved to be the real one. She was able to withstand not only her husband’s alcoholism, his excesses, such as a suicide attempt, or a drunken crash, and she also managed his repeated stays in a hospital.
The actress is currently shooting the series Slunečná and her husband the series Sestřičky. The studios are just a few meters apart, so the couple meets during breaks in the hallway. Even though they see each other at home and partly at work, they are definitely not annoyed. “Martina has an amazing kind of insight into her life and naming situations. She can stick in forums, make fun of herself, make fun of me – and that’s okay,” the actor concluded.
