Benfica, as we know, are in a hurry and that’s why they scheduled the return to work for June 24th and the first day of training with the new coach, Roger Schmidt, at the Seixal training center for the 27th.
The first leg of the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, a day of enormous sporting, financial and strategic importance, given that no one will want to start a new season by compromising their presence in something as important as the Champions League group stage, will take place on the 2nd or 3rd of August and a whole working group has to be prepared from a physical, technical and mental point of view, to put into practice a new paradigm, as Rui Costa, president of Benfica, announced to the partners.
Therefore, it will not be good news for Schmidt and for SAD Benfica that 11 players (the number will increase if names like Ricardo Horta join Luz) have been involved in national team commitments and, therefore, with part of the committed vacation.
