Klopp happy with Liverpool’s fighting spirit on ‘tough field’ in Johan Cruijff ArenA | NOW

Jürgen Klopp is mostly satisfied with Liverpool’s 0-1 victory over Ajax. The manager saw that his team was not having an easy time with the opponent and the field in the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Wednesday.

“Our game was good enough to win. Both teams could do better, the game sometimes looked a bit wild from both sides”, 53-year-old Klopp concluded after the game.

“It was a difficult and tough field, a bit muddy too. Both teams seemed to get through it quickly. Three days ago the field looked completely different and yesterday during practice.”

The only goal came in the first half and was credited to Nicolás Tagliafico, who unluckily worked the ball into his own goal. Quincy Promes, Dusan Tadic and Davy Klaassen, among others, got good chances on behalf of Ajax.

“All in all, I am satisfied,” said Klopp. “It was not our best game, but in moments like this it is about the result. My players have had an incredible fight, which has helped a lot.”

The next Champions League round is already scheduled for next week, in which Ajax will visit Atalanta and Liverpool will take on FC Midtjylland at home.
