Former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov believes that the failure to qualify red devils for the Champions League next season could make the Portuguese consider leaving the club.
“I would be very happy if he continued, but if he decides to leave, I cannot blame him. When a player is used to playing in the Champions League every year of his career and, suddenly, he doesn’t have that competition… It’s hard to accept”, said the former striker, who praised CR7’s season at Old Trafford.
“Being in this shape at 37 shows that you take great care of him. Cristiano showed that, even at this age, he can play in the Premier League. His style of play is different now, but the goals continue to be a constant and he fulfills his role, which is to score. He has one more year on his contract and it will be up to him to decide whether or not he wants to continue”, concluded Berbatov, in the opinion page on Betfair.
