THE BALL – Colbrelli is the new European champion; João Almeida in the top15 (Cycling)

Sonny Colbrelli became, this Sunday, European Champion of road cycling. Racing at home, in Trento, the Italian cyclist overcame the Belgian Remco Evenpoel in a sprint and ended up as the fastest to cover the 179.2 kilometers of the race.

In terms of Portuguese participation, João Almeida was the best, finishing in 14th place, six minutes from Colbrelli. This was followed by Rui Costa (18th, at 9.13 minutes) and Nélson Oliveira (28th, at the same time). Rúben Guerreiro, Rui Oliveira and Rafael Reis did not complete the race.

This was the fourth consecutive time that the European Road Cycling Championships triumph. Colbrelli succeeded Giacomo Nizzolo (2020), Elia Viviani (2019) and Matteo Trentin (2018).
