Authorities are looking for an alleged thief on a red-and-white motorcycle who rips the chains off his victims before fleeing in The Bronx, police said. So far about 12 robberies have been reported in different parts of the county since October.
The first case occurred on October 2, around 11:15 p.m., when the suspect was on his motorcycle and snatched a metal chain, worth about $ 500, from a 28-year-old woman when she was on the corner. from West 157th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue in Manhattan.
Five days later, on October 7, police said, at around 7:05 p.m., the motorcyclist allegedly carried out the same robbery against a 38-year-old woman in front of the 600 West 168th Street also in Manhattan. The chain had a cost of about $ 600. Almost two hours later, the victim was a 23-year-old girl, with a chain of about $ 800, who was in the area of West Mosholu Parkway and West Gun Hill Road, but this time in the Bronx, added the uniformed woman.
The fourth robbery reported by the New York City Police was on October 8 at about 3:10 p.m., and the 31-year-old woman was in front of the 473 West 158th Street in Manhattan. The chain the suspect tore off the motorcycle was worth about $ 300.
The other eight robberies were reported on the same day in Manhattan and the Bronx, on November 10, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The victims, also women and of different ages, were robbed in the same way, when the suspect was on the motorcycle and snatched their chains, some of them valued between $ 1,000 and $ 3,000.
Some of the victims had some kind of cut or redness.
In total, so far the suspect has taken more than $ 8,000 in stolen chains.
The individual is described by police as a man on a red and white motorcycle and was last seen wearing a ski mask, gray pants and blue sneakers.
