Stuttgart hopes to lose BVB and Bayern

Germany – In the Bundesliga, the final decisions in the relegation race have been postponed. In the 32nd round, Bielefeld and Stuttgart were able to keep their hopes up thanks to late goals.

Hertha Berlin, successfully managed by Felix Magath over the last few weeks, seemed to have secured their place in the league. And then it came in the last minutes of the game for the capital city. The penultimate Bielefeld equalized in the 91st minute after a corner kick by Sweden’s Joakim Nilsson against Hertha to make it 1-1.

Almost at the same time, the third from last Stuttgart made it 1-1 at home against Wolfsburg through Chris Führich. The goal against the guests, who played without Renato Steffen and Kevin Mbabu, came with the first dangerous action by the Stuttgart team, who had been disappointing for many rounds. Now the five-time champion can hope again: the Swabians go into the last two rounds four points behind Hertha and two points in reserve on Bielefeld – away against Bayern Munich and at home against 1. FC Köln.

With the 3-1 home win against the series champions, Mainz proved that Munich are not invulnerable with the title in their pocket. Silvan Widmer was instrumental in Leandro Barreiro’s last goal. Dortmund also suffered a defeat. Despite three goals from Erling Haaland, BVB lost 4-3 at home to Bochum, which secured relegation.

Behind Bayern Munich and Dortmund, who have been confirmed as Champions League participants, various teams are still fighting for the other two places in the premier class. Thanks to the 4: 3 at Hoffenheim, SC Freiburg took over 4th place from Leipzig, at least for a while. Freiburg turned a 1:2 into a 4:2 between the 50th and 73rd minute.

Leipzig (in Mönchengladbach) and third-placed Leverkusen (at home against Eintracht Frankfurt) only play on Monday.
