A certificate of his death was issued to Navalny’s mother in the Third Correctional Colony in Harpa, Yamal Nenets Autonomous Region, where the oppositionist was imprisoned.
“Alexei Navalny has been killed,” Yarmish announced.
“Death occurred on February 16 at 2:17 p.m. local time, as it is written in the official certificate, which was issued to Alexey’s mother,” Yarmisha said.
“An employee of the colony announced that Navalny’s body was in Salekhard. He was collected by the investigators of the Investigative Committee. Now they are doing their ‘research’ with it,” said Navalny’s associate.

Later, Jarmiša said that Navalny’s mother failed to receive her son’s body in Salehard.
“Alexei’s lawyer and mother came to the Salekhard morgue. It is closed, despite the colony’s claims that it is supposedly working and that Navalny’s body is there,” Yarmish explained.
“The lawyer called the phone number indicated on the door. He was told that he is already the seventh person to call today. They don’t have Alexey’s body in the morgue,” said an associate of an opposition member.
“The colony deceived. They said that the body is in the Salehard morgue. They say there is no body,” said Ivans Zhdanov, director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) founded by Navalny.
Russian authorities announced on Friday that Navalny died in prison in the Yamal Nenets Autonomous Region.
Navalny was detained in January 2021, returning from Germany, where he received treatment after a poisoning attempt organized by agents of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
In February of the same year, Navalny was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for allegedly violating the terms of the suspended prison sentence he was sentenced to in 2014, while receiving treatment in Germany. In March of the following year, he was sentenced to another nine years in prison for “fraud” and “contempt of court”, and in August 2023 – to 19 years in prison for “extremism”.
At the end of December, Navalny was transferred to the special regime colony, which was built in the 1960s on the site of the former Gulag camp.
