Rio Verlanda Slashes KPPS Chairman at TPS 27 Ilir Barat II Palembang, Named Suspect

Linmas officer, Rio Verlanda (34), slash The chairman of the KPPS at TPS 27 Ilir Barat II Palembang, Osa (30), was named a suspect and detained by the police. Rio revealed that his action was carried out because he was offended by the victim who gave him a cynical look during voting day.

Rio, who is a resident of Jalan Talang Kerangga, Lorong Lebak Malang, Subdistrict 30 Ilir, District IB II, Palembang, admitted that he was offended by the victim’s attitude on voting day, Wednesday (14/2). Because he was offended, the perpetrator finally turned a blind eye and slashed the victim at the polling station where the perpetrator and victim were on duty.

“His face (view) when he was on duty yesterday was sarcastic and then looked at me when he was reprimanded, so I felt offended,” he said at the Palembang Police Headquarters as reported by detikContributeSaturday (17/2/2024).

After carrying out the action, Rio immediately ran away. The police continued to chase the perpetrator, until he was finally caught at one of Rio’s relatives’ houses in the Jalan Bank Raya area, Friday (16/2) at 16.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, Palembang Police Chief, Commissioner Harryo Sugihhartono, explained that the perpetrator’s motive for carrying out the stabbing was because he was offended by the victim when he was on duty guarding the polling station during the 2024 election.

“So the perpetrator Rio was offended by the victim (Osa) because while on duty, the victim did not want to prioritize the perpetrator’s pregnant wife when he wanted to vote. Then at sunset, the victim ignored the perpetrator’s permission to rest for a while,” he explained.
