Russia Called to Send Ambassador to the Inauguration of the Cabinet of the Taliban Era

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Russia is said to be sending its ambassador to the government inauguration ceremony Afghanistan in the era of power Taliban.

“I believe the presence will be carried out by officials at the level of ambassadors or other members of the diplomatic corps. No higher than that,” said the speaker of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament, Valentina Matviyenko, as quoted by the news agency. TASS.

Matviyenko stressed that Russia will likely only send representatives at the level of diplomatic officials in the inauguration.

However, sending the ambassador also indicates that Russia recognizes the Afghan government formed by the Taliban. Apart from Russia, China has also opened up to establish diplomatic relations with the Taliban.

Meanwhile, other countries are still weighing and monitoring the development of the situation to decide this.

Turkey, for example, appealed to all countries of the world not to rush to recognize the power of the Taliban.

Russia itself actually warned that Afghanistan would not become a hotbed of terrorists after the success of the Taliban rose to power.

Not only Russia, India also believes in the same thing. The two countries agreed to deepen cooperation to anticipate the threat of terrorism.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolay Patrushev, and India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit Doval.

“There is a convergence of views on the presence of international terrorist groups in Afghanistan and the threat of terrorism to Central Asia and India,” Patrushev said.

They also agreed that the Taliban must keep its promise to respect human rights, especially women.

Currently, the world’s countries are continuing to observe the movements of the Taliban to form a government. Since taking power on August 5, they have pledged to form an inclusive and more moderate government.

On Tuesday (7/9), the Taliban announced an interim government in Afghanistan. A number of veterans from the group were appointed to crucial positions.

Mention Mohammad Hassan Akhund as prime minister, Abdul Ghani Barradar as deputy prime minister, and Sirajuddin Haqqani as interior minister.

Most of them are targets of United States and United Nations (UN) sanctions because of their involvement with terrorism and their actions in the previous administration in 1996-2001.

Sirajuddin Haqqani is even on the US Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) most wanted list.
