Families with two children or more will be entitled to a check to help pay for daycare.
When the new State Budget comes into force, the child care allowances in case of illness or accident will be paid 100%. According to Public, as of the last quarter of this year, all families with two children or more will be entitled to a check to help pay for the daycare center.
Although the amount has yet to be defined, the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, guarantees the newspaper that all families will be entitled – regardless of the income they earn.
The regulation for the daycare complement is being prepared, says Ana Mendes Godinho, and is expected to come into force in the academic year 2020-2021. The amount is not yet possible to define, but what is defined is that the supplement will only be given to parents who effectively place their children in daycare, public or private.
The Government also intends, with the investment in birth support, to create conditions for young people to be able to have children sooner, valuing and increasing their income.
How many days are left to assist the family?
Currently, according to the Labor Code (article 49), 30 annual absences can be given for each child, stepson or adopted child under the age of 12. When the age exceeds 12 years, and as long as the child resides in the parents’ home – even if an adult -, the absence limit is 15 per year.
All of these faults are justified. However, they imply a discount on the salary. It is possible to receive a Social Security allowance, for which it is necessary to present the medical declaration proving the need for assistance.
