“Rare Find: Well-Preserved 1991 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 with Low Mileage”

Are you looking for a nice and well-preserved Volkswagen Corrado?

Finding a well-maintained and less-used example in its original condition is quite a challenge these days. Especially if you’re also looking for one of the more powerful versions. But we have one tip for you.

In Eisenach, Germany, we found a piece from 1991, which the seller claims has covered only about 23,900 kilometers so far. In addition, it is a car in the top version of the VR6, which arrived on the market in 1991.

Under the front hood, a naturally aspirated six-cylinder petrol engine of an unusual design works. Since Volkswagen developed this engine with a view to placement (across) in the compact third-generation Golf and its derivatives, it also focused on its dimensions. The creators thus came up with an arrangement with a very narrow opening of the cylinder rows of 15 degrees. The cylinders are arranged in a “zig-zag” pattern in the block, and from the point of view of production costs, it was important that an engine arranged in this way only needs one head – in contrast to fork units, which need two.

The first variants of the VR6 engine first got under the hoods of the Passat and Corrado models, soon followed by the Golf and Vento types.

In the Corrado for European markets, the six-cylinder had a displacement of 2861 cubic centimeters and provided a maximum power of 140 kW (190 hp) at 5800 rpm and a peak torque of 245 Nm at 4200 rpm-1.

In conjunction with a five-speed manual transmission, the 1,210 kilogram coupe accelerated from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reached a top speed of over 230 km/h, according to the manufacturer.

The rarely used example from Eisenach boasts red metallic paint and interesting equipment. Although it lacks air conditioning, according to the seller, it does include heated front seats, a sunroof, a radio with a cassette player or central locking. The car currently has an ABT steering wheel, but the owner also has the original one. In the available photos, the car looks really well-preserved, but we certainly don’t need to emphasize that if you are interested, you should take a close look at the Corrado anyway.

Cena does 27,900 euros, which translates to about 650 thousand crowns.
