Prague Auction Achieves 70% Sales Rate, Vintage Ace Four Motorcycle Tops Bids at 2.2 Million CZK
A recent auction at the Prague Car Festival, organized by Retro Garáž, saw nine out of thirteen offered items sold, representing a 70% success rate. the highest bid was secured by a vintage Ace four sporting Solo motorcycle - once the world’s fastest – which fetched 2.2 million Czech crowns (CZK) after being estimated at 3.7 million CZK.
other items sold included a Fiat 128 3P Berlinetta for 125,000 CZK, a Smart Roadster MTV Edition for 250,000 CZK, and an Opel Kadett for 6,000 CZK. BMW models featured prominently, with a BMW 1.8 CSL Art Bike selling for 890,000 CZK. Several BMW motorcycles – including the R NineT Gaston Rahier Tribute and R18 Her Tribute – were listed as “not auctioned.”
“I’m satisfied that at least one of the three was sold. I was thinking about keeping the R18 Henne tribute anyway, so I don’t really mind,” said the former NHL hockey player who consigned items to the auction.
Pavel Kočí highlighted the importance of the BMW series to Czech fans, noting the final design and processing were completed in the Czech Republic, representing “a beautiful example of the combination of German technical precision and Czech skill.”
The auction drew collectors,investors,fans,and athletes,with auctioneer Pavel Kočí stating,”The risks are always there… But it shows that even auctioneers can come up with really interesting pieces at grate prices.”
