Purell maker faces lawsuits amid pandemic for “tricking” its customers – Telemundo McAllen (40)

The maker of the popular Purell disinfectant gel faces two lawsuits over alleged false claims that have been used on its labels where it claims the gel can prevent “99.9% of germs that cause disease,” reports NBC News.

The most recent class action lawsuit, filed March 13 by four people in federal court for the Northeastern district of Ohio, details that the Gojo company misled its customers by writing on its labels that the gel could kill 99.9% of germs. .

The other lawsuit was filed last month claiming that the manufacturer “abused the public’s trust” by repeatedly marketing these claims, hinting that there was “scientific backing” that apparently does not exist.

In January, the FDA issued a warning to the manufacturer about marketing its products with unsupported claims.

The lawsuit comes amid the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus that has left some 230,000 people infected and millions under quarantine orders at home.
