OPI and Kerry Washington unite to celebrate OPI’s 40th anniversary

Los Angeles (ots/PRNewswire) Kerry Washington joins the brand as OPI’s 40th Anniversary Campaign Ambassador in a one-year birthday party.

OPI, the world’s leading nail care brand, has announced that actress, producer, director and activist Kerry Washington will serve as the brand ambassador for the company’s 40th anniversary this year. Washington is returning to OPI, where she served as the brand’s first creative ambassador back in 2016. In this role Washington worked with OPI co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann to create the “Washington DC” collection.

Throughout 2021, OPI will focus on 40 of the brand’s most iconic hues. Not surprisingly, Washington’s previously co-created color “We the Female”, a sovereign red nail polish that was part of the previous collaboration, is among the top colors.

The company OPI, founded in 1981, emerged as a supplier to dentistry during the acrylic nail movement of the 1980s. When the co-founders and in-laws George Schaeffer and Weiss-Fischmann realized that dentures and artificial nail extensions have a similar chemistry, they saw a gap in the market and took advantage of it.
