DUBAI (Reuters) – Israeli shipping company Eastern Pacific Shipping said on Thursday that one of its tankers was attacked off the coast of Oman. There was minor damage to the hull, but no one was injured and no diesel was spilled.
Israeli officials say the attack was carried out by Iran. Several sources said the attack on the tanker was believed to have been carried out by drones.
US Central Command said in a statement that an Iranian-made drone carried out the attack. A multinational maritime force led by the Royal Navy headed for the area.
Iranian news agencies blamed Israel for the attack.
