For example, in the city of Kimberley, the air temperature was minus 9.9 degrees Celsius. Such low temperature indicators in the region were not recorded for the entire period of meteorological observations.

In Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa in terms of population, the air temperature dropped to minus seven degrees at night.

The previous record of cold weather was recorded here on July 19, 1995 – minus 6.3 degrees.

It is also noted that for the first time in many years, snow fell in various parts of the country.

Cold weather is expected to last for about a week in South Africa.
