Australia Clinch second ‍Ashes Test, Extend lead to 2-0

brisbane, ‌Australia⁤ – December 8, 2025 ‌ – Australia defeated‍ england by 65 runs ⁣in the second Ashes Test at the Gabba in Brisbane⁢ on Sunday, taking a commanding 2-0 ⁤lead in the five-match series. Despite a spirited rearguard action from Ben ‍Stokes and Tom ‌Jacks, england ⁣succumbed to the Australian attack, ultimately falling short in their⁣ chase.

The‍ victory builds on Australia’s win‌ in the first ⁣Test and puts significant ⁢pressure on England, who⁣ now‍ must win at least three‍ of the remaining matches to reclaim the Ashes. The third ‍Test begins December 17⁣ at the Adelaide Oval, followed by ⁢the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and a ‌final match in Sydney⁣ from January 4.

England began the final day trailing by 43 runs, and while many anticipated a swift Australian victory, Stokes and Jacks initially frustrated the hosts. The pair adopted a cautious approach, prioritizing survival and accumulating runs in singles ‌rather than attempting aggressive shots. they added just 28 runs‌ in the first⁢ hour, eventually passing the deficit after 96 minutes, having⁣ scored 59 runs in two hours.

However, the resistance was broken as Michael ‍Neser dismissed ⁢Jacks,‍ with steve Smith taking‌ a breathtaking diving catch ⁣at slip. Neser then removed Stokes shortly after, edging to Alex Carey, leaving England‍ at 227-8 with a lead of 50.

Neser finished with career-best figures of 5-42, while Smith equaled rahul‍ Dravid on 210 ‍outfield catches, trailing only Joe Root’s record of 213. The lower order ⁤offered‌ little resistance, as Gus Atkinson, Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer quickly fell.

Australia ⁢needed to chase 66 for victory, and despite losing Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne, Smith and Jake ⁤Weatherald comfortably‌ guided the home side to an easy win.

England batting coach marcus Trescothick had stated his batsmen would maintain their aggressive approach despite recent failures, but Stokes and Jacks initially deviated from⁤ that strategy on Sunday, focusing on defensive play and building a partnership.

MH370: Malaysia to Resume Search for Missing Plane

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor December 3, 2025

Renewed Search Efforts⁤ Underway for Missing malaysia Airlines ⁤MH370

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – ⁢The search for Malaysia Airlines⁤ Flight MH370 is ‌resuming, with U.S. marine robotics company Ocean Infinity set‍ to intermittently‌ scan a 15,000-square-kilometer (5,800-square-mile) area of the Indian‌ Ocean starting December 30th for a total of 55 days.⁢ This latest effort ⁢marks a continued attempt to locate the aircraft, wich disappeared nearly a‍ decade ago,and offers a‌ renewed⁣ hope for closure to the families of the 239 people on‌ board.

The Boeing 777⁣ vanished on March ⁢8, ‌2014, ⁣while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Despite one of the most extensive and expensive‌ searches in aviation‍ history, the mystery surrounding its ‌fate remains. The ongoing quest ⁢to find the wreckage is crucial not‌ only for providing answers to grieving families but also for understanding the circumstances that led to the‌ disappearance and improving future flight safety protocols.

Initial search efforts, spanning ‍vast stretches of the Indian Ocean, proved fruitless. Signals initially⁣ believed⁣ to⁤ be from the plane’s black box were later attributed to ⁢other sources, and no wreckage was found until a flaperon was discovered on Réunion Island in July 2015. additional‌ fragments afterward washed‍ ashore along the east coast⁣ of ⁤Africa. The initial, government-funded‌ search ‌was suspended in January 2017.

In 2018,Ocean Infinity undertook⁢ a “no find,no fee” search, focusing ⁣on areas identified through debris drift analysis, but this too ended without success.

Malaysia’s government recently⁣ authorized Ocean Infinity to resume the seabed search under the same “no-find, no-fee” agreement. The company will receive $70 ‍million only if wreckage is found. The current search was briefly suspended in April due to adverse ⁤weather conditions.

The challenge of locating the aircraft lies in the immense size and depth of the Indian Ocean – the world’s third largest – with average ⁣depths of ⁢around ‌4 kilometers (2.5 miles) in the search area. ⁣Locating wreckage in such conditions is notoriously difficult, as⁢ evidenced‌ by the dozens of planes that have vanished over the past 50 years, according to the Aviation Safety Network.

ocean Infinity has stated it⁤ will⁤ utilize ⁣new technology and ⁣data analysis, working with⁢ experts to narrow the search area to the most promising location. It remains unclear‍ whether the company possesses new‍ evidence regarding the plane’s whereabouts.

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor December 3, 2025
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Deep-Sea Search for Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight⁣ 370‍ to Resume

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – A renewed deep-sea search for Malaysia Airlines ⁣Flight 370 will begin December 30, offering a potential, though uncertain, path toward closure for families who have waited nearly a decade for⁤ answers. The search will be conducted by U.S.-based ‌marine robotics firm Ocean Infinity and focus⁤ on a 15,000-square-kilometer (5,800-square-mile)⁢ area of the Indian Ocean.

The ⁣Boeing‌ 777 disappeared in‌ 2014 while flying from ‌Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on⁤ board, becoming one of aviation’s greatest ⁤mysteries.Despite extensive, and ultimately ⁤unsuccessful, multinational searches, the main wreckage has never been found. This latest effort represents⁤ a ‍renewed commitment ‍by the Malaysian government to locate the aircraft and provide answers to grieving families, and is being undertaken⁣ on a “no-find, no-fee” basis.

The transport ministry‍ announced⁤ that Ocean Infinity will search intermittently for a total of 55 days, concentrating on areas identified‌ as having the ‍highest probability of containing wreckage. Malaysia’s government gave the green ⁤light for the contract with Ocean Infinity in March, agreeing to pay $70 million only if the search yields results. The initial search was⁣ paused in April due to adverse weather ‍conditions.

While an earlier, expensive multinational search failed to locate the aircraft, debris confirmed to be from the flight has washed ashore on the‍ east African coast and Indian Ocean islands. Ocean Infinity previously conducted a private search in 2018, also without success.

Chinese Foreign Ministry‍ spokesperson Lin Jian stated Beijing appreciates the efforts ‌being made by the Malaysian side. the resumption of the search underscores the ongoing international interest‍ in resolving the mystery of⁤ MH370 and ⁣bringing a measure of peace to those affected by the tragedy.

A separate court previously sentenced Hasina to 21 years in jail on November 27 ⁤in three related‍ cases involving a township project; her son and daughter received five-year sentences in that instance.‍

The cases center around the violent suppression of student-led ⁢demonstrations that challenged Hasina’s government.⁢ Rehana, another individual involved in the case, is also currently abroad, as are Siddiq’s two siblings, all facing charges linked to the 2022 uprising.
