“(short-range ballistic missile) has a flight distance of about 600 km, an altitude of about 60 km and a speed of about Mach 5 (5 times the speed of sound) …”

The missile launched by the vehicle-type mobile launcher has been identified as a momentary surge to avoid interception in flight, and the military considers it a “North Korean version of the Iskander” which is an improved Russian-made missile.

This is the fifth launch of a North Korean missile from the Yun Seok-yeol government settlement and the first in 113 days for a ballistic missile.

It is analyzed as a targeted threat to a four-day maritime exercise between South Korea and the United States involving the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, as well as part of the weapons development test that North Korean leader Kim has focused on. Jong-un.

The government urgently summoned the National Security Council, calling it “a violation of UN Security Council resolutions and a provocative act” and strongly condemned it.

The government is paying particular attention to the fact that this is the first armed protest since it enacted the law that North Korea may first fire nuclear weapons at its discretion.

“Although[la Corea del Nord]show that its nuclear force policy is not empty words, on the other hand, it is analyzed that it also contains the intention to ‘pave the way’ for SLBM (submarine launched ballistic missile) and the 7th nuclear test “.

Amid the possibility of further provocations, including a ballistic missile launched from a submarine known to be in preparation at the Sinpo shipyard in South Hamgyong province, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Seung-gyeom held a meeting with the commander. of the ROK – US Combined Forces and re-examined the combined defense position.
