The mayor responds in harsh terms to revealed reports that Texas Gov. Gregg Abott would resume busing asylum seekers to New York City and other cities across the nation.
In a statement, Adams said the Texas governor is purposely selecting five cities that are led by African-American mayors.
Adams added that despite Abbott’s “inhumane actions,” the city will continue to do everything possible to handle the arrival of more immigrants, but also warned that, and we quote: “this crisis is more than one city can handle.”
He also called again for more support from the federal government.
Apart from our city, Abbott would also be restarting the sending of asylum seekers to Washington DC, Los Angeles, Denver and Chicago.
