In the middle of the summer, a new wave of COVID-19 is rising, world news shows. This has led some countries to tighten measures, and compulsory vaccination has even been discussed in Western Europe.

Against this background, a delay in vaccination is reported in Bulgaria. Expired vaccines are to be discarded. The government will donate tens of thousands more to neighboring countries.

Our southern neighbor Greece, which is traditionally a preferred summer destination for many Bulgarians already imposes mandatory tests for coronavirus for unvaccinated, who return to the mainland from the islands by ferry.

The same measure will apply to passengers using sea taxis.

The decision came amid fears that Greek and foreign tourists traveling to and from the islands have a role to play in the sharp rise in coronavirus infections.

2,961 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported by Greek authorities on Friday, and 14 died of the disease.

Eleven of the new cases were found in tourists tested on arrival. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Greece, 453,200 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed and 12,833 have died from the disease.

An infected boom is also reported in Russiaover 25,000 were newly registered with COVID, and 787 died in the last 24 hours.

More than 5.933 million people are infected in Russia, with a population of 144 million. The country ranks fourth in the world in this indicator after the United States, India and Brazil.

The epidemic in the country is gaining momentum with the advent of the coronavirus Delta variant first identified in India. The main foci are the capital Moscow and the second largest Russian city, St. Petersburg,
where restrictive measures have been tightened in recent weeks.

Authorities have so far been reluctant to introduce a universal lockdown, such as last spring, to save the pandemic economy.

In France vaccination is being considered mandatory. The expectations are that they will be able to prevent a moving wave. The recommendation is from the Supreme Health Service of the government for the Western European country.

Following the resumption of the epidemic, the government has already made vaccination mandatory for all health workers this week, but has so far refrained from imposing compulsory immunization on the entire population.

France has also introduced a requirement for coronavirus tests, which are submitted by visitors from the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece and the Netherlands. The requirement will take effect tomorrow at midnight, said French Prime Minister Jean Castex.

In addition, Tunisia, Mozambique, Cuba and Indonesia will be included in France’s red list.

A record number of deaths from COVID were reported in Tunisia – 205 people in the last 24 hours.

The country’s health ministry has reported 6,787 newly infected people in the last 24 hours, raising concerns about the country’s ability to cope with the pandemic as intensive care units have exhausted capacity and lack oxygen supplies.

The vaccination campaign in the country is very slow, and
The World Health Organization says the daily death toll from COVID-19 per capita in Tunisia is one of the highest in Africa and the Arab world.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of infected people in the country exceeds half a million people, and the death toll is over 17,200.

The former health minister accused the caretaker government of failing the vaccination

And more: 20,000 vaccines expire
