Manchester United the opportunity to join forces with tough teams like Bayern Munich, Juventus, or Paris St. Germain in the group phase Champions League. MU is not afraid.
Draw or draw round of 32 2020/21 Champions League will be held on Thursday (1/10/2020). MU is placed in Pot 2 with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Ajax.
Meanwhile, Pot 1 contains the champions of European leagues such as Bayern (defending champion of the Champions League), Sevilla (defending champion of the Europa League), Real Madrid, Liverpool, Juventus, PSG, Zenit and Porto.
The rules for the draw are still the same as in the past, namely four teams from Pots 1 to 4 will fill in a group where the teams are not in the same country. That means, MU, which is the representative of England, has the opportunity to be part of Bayern or Real Madrid, or Juventus, or PSG.
The Red Devils have a less shiny record in the Champions League recently. Since the end of the Sir Alex Ferguson era, MU has been stuck in the quarter-finals which has been achieved twice in four appearances.
MU manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his squad was ready to meet the challenge. MU is determined to go as far as possible.
“Neither can them because they can get us!” said Solskjaer to MUTV. “We are happy to be able to play there and we want to go far.”
“Whoever our opponent is – we are the seeded team in pot two, so we will get a top team but there are a lot of good teams in European football right now, so the names don’t really matter,” said the manager. Man United the Norwegian stared drawing the Champions League.
