Local administration gave a voucher to participate in a raffle of 500,000 pesos to those who receive the vaccine against covid-19.
The strategy worked and the citizens came en masse to receive the dose.
Vaccination exceeded all expectations reaching a record high, with about 9,000 people who received the dose, to the point of having to hastily search for more bonuses with the raffle numbers.

Diana Paternina, the Director of Public Health of Toluviejo, and his team as a covid liaison had been concerned about the low numbers of vaccination, despite being a municipality included within the differential pilot plan.
From 18 years of age, Toluviejans could receive the dose; however, ‘the turnstile’ did not move.
“The strategy was implemented in view of the fact that people were a little incredulous in relation to the vaccine, they did not believe in its effectiveness and did not want to approach the vaccination posts,” said the official.

He specified that that was how they were devised to deliver the voucher with the raffle and immediately the numbers of people vaccinated rose like foam.
“It went up a lot, a lot. A strategy that gave a lot to speak positively, although like all things also negative, because they said that health is everyone’s responsibility and you don’t have to wait for them to give them something to preserve it ”.
He said that it was very important for the work team to implement a tactic that would help the vaccination coverage go up and the herd immunity would be reached soon.

The head of Toluviejo Public Health that the census they handle indicates that there are 13,000 people in the municipality who can receive the vaccine against covid-19 and it has been applied to about 9,000.

Toluviejo is very close to achieving herd immunity and would become the first Sucre municipality to reach this favorable figure.
