“As owners of Antony, Manchester United have decided that he will continue training at Carrington, and are willing to be selected, while the police investigation continues. This will be kept under review pending further developments in this case.”

“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and harassment. We recognize the importance of protecting everyone involved in this situation, and recognize the impact these allegations have on the survivors,” concluded MU’s statement.

Previously, Manchester United had suspended Antony regarding the domestic violence case faced by the player. The step was taken, not long after Antony also dropped from the Brazilian national team squad.

Antony was just questioned by Manchester police on Thursday (28/9) afternoon local time. He was accompanied by MU security members.

Antony was at the police station for about 5 hours. He only came home at around 21.00 local time.

Antony was accused of violence by his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin. The 23 year old player was immediately dropped by Brazil and was not played by MU until the case was resolved.

Cavallin reported Antony to the Brazilian and Manchester police stations regarding the footballer’s alleged acts of violence. The former Ajax player is said to have been rude during their relationship.

Antony himself continues to deny the accusations. After Cavallin reported, two other reports emerged from two different women, namely Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana. Currently, the investigation is still ongoing.
