Maintain Cleanliness Ahead of Rainy Season: Bengkulu City Health Service Urges Public

The Bengkulu City Health Service (Dinkes) appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness ahead of weather changes entering the rainy season.

“To anticipate the rainy season, the public is asked to maintain the cleanliness of the residential environment, especially not to allow stagnant water in containers because it can create a place for mosquitoes to breed,” said Acting Head of the Bengkulu City Health Office, Joni Haryadi Thabrani, in Bengkulu, Sunday.

This is done because the change in weather from the dry season to the rainy season can cause various diseases.

For this reason, the public is encouraged to carry out community service or mutual cooperation to clean water channels to avoid flooding in the Bengkulu City area.

Because, he explained, the cause of flooding in Bengkulu City was because the water channels were full of rubbish and weeds which caused the water to be blocked.

Joni explained, when the seasons change or enter the rainy season, the diseases that often appear in Bengkulu City are dengue fever, skin diseases, fever, flu, coughs and other diseases.

Meanwhile, the Bengkulu City Health Office noted that during 2023 there were 48 confirmed cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in the area.

DHF cases in 2023 will decrease compared to 2022, when there were 117 confirmed cases.

“Because dengue fever often occurs during the rainy season, whereas in Bengkulu City itself, until now the weather is still uncertain and tends to be hot,” explained the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Division of the Bengkulu City Health Office, Sri Martiana.

The low number of confirmed cases of dengue fever in Bengkulu City is due to weather factors, during 2023 there will be a long dry season compared to previous years.
