Six years after her debut on social networks, where she signed superb covers of songs, Lyna Mahyem finally released her first album entitled “Femme Forte”. And for the long-awaited release of this opus, the 25-year-old singer was able to count on the strong support of a famous beauty brand: Maybelline New York. The brand which is one of the most popular in France in the world of make-up has indeed decided to help the pretty brunette and for example staged the clip for her hit “Outro”, from this new album. Love at first sight Lyna Mahyem and Maybelline New York started during the filming of the campaign for the foundation “Fit Me” and was confirmed during a private showcase, at the Maybelline New York Station event in March 2020 And it’s now been a year since Maybelline has gone hand in hand with this artist whose authentic, distinguished and urban universe has seduced the brand.
On the occasion of the release of her clip, but also to celebrate this new beauty collaboration, Lyna Mahyem confides in her beauty favorites.
• How did you come to collaborate with Maybelline New York?
The collaboration with Maybelline New York happened quite naturally. I have been the face of the brand for a year now. I think they got hooked with my musical universe then they saw the bomb that I am suddenly… Let’s go do the first collaboration Lyna Mahyem x Maybelline New York haha! More seriously, they were looking for renewal in their image in order to make it younger, more urban. Usually they instead use models to represent the brand. This year they wanted to mix our universe, urban music (that of Eva, Doria, Bilal Hassani) and theirs, that of beauty. These two worlds go very well together, indeed, we are artists and must always take care of our appearance. In addition, I love this brand, it conveys values and well-being, which suits me perfectly!
• What are your three favorite products of the brand?
– Land Baby Lips lip balm super-hydrating because at the same time I’m addicted to Labello.
– The concealer (the anti-aging eraser) which just TOO TOO good camouflage my dark circles.
– Color Sensational lip liner.
• The beauty product you can’t do without no matter what?
I can’t part with my Baby lips (blue) from Maybelline New York quite simply. This one is still in my bag! I hate dry lips.
• The beauty trend of the moment that you love?
The trend I love at the moment is messy eyebrows I find it super beautiful! Kind tousled! It gives a little wild and very natural side, which is what I like. And then when you let your eyebrows live their life, there is no risk of unpleasant surprises of hair removal or other.
• The beauty trend of the moment that you hate?
The current trend that I don’t really like is the one which consists of making your lips stick out with the pencil to make them bigger, to give a big mouth effect to their lips. It’s not that I don’t like it, I like it when it’s done well. But unfortunately most of the time some people abuse it and it can get downright disgusting and rude. It ultimately serves them up and it messes up more than it embellishes when it’s badly done.
• What is your secret to having beautiful eyebrows?
By answering this question, it will no longer be too much of a secret… But hey, we have to share, it’s important. My secret to beautiful eyebrows is to nourish them thoroughly with castor oil coupled with Brow Ultra slim eyebrow pencil from Maybelline New York. Basically, every night before sleeping I clean my face and at the end I soak a cotton swab in castor oil, I run that over my eyebrows and in the morning I use the Brow Ultra slim eyebrow pencil from at Maybelline New York.
• What is your makeup removal routine?
My demakeup routine consists, every night, of cleaning my face with micellar water then washing it with a glove and donkey milk soap then I finish by moisturizing it with almond oil sweet. Personally, in my opinion, there is nothing better.
• Your favorite treatments to have beautiful skin?
So for my skin I have several, but these are always treatments with natural things that are found in all kitchens. The first is a honey / sugar / turmeric mask, it gives me an instant boost of radiance and it reduces the spots because I have small redness (on only one cheek in addition). The second is an aloe vera mask. I love it, it tightens my pores and the same as for the honey / sugar / turmeric mask, instant radiance boost on my face! One last treatment that I like to do from time to time is a white yogurt mask that thoroughly hydrates my skin when it is dry!
• Who is your beauty icon?
My beauty icon of the moment is Gigi Hadid! She is a beautiful and very natural woman as I like. And, as luck would have it, she’s a Maybelline New York muse haha! I also always adored Angelina Jolie. These 2 women, I have always followed them, they are very beautiful with or without make up. They have a super-natural way of makeup, which gives off a crazy charisma! Don’t you think so? In addition, Gigi Hadid often shares her beauty routine in story, I love phew and I take the seed lol!
