A retired National Police Officer, Dharma Phongrekun and his candidate Kun Wardana registered themselves to participate in the Governorship Election (Gubernatorial election) DKI Jakarta via independent route. They submitted the necessary documents to the General Election Commission (KPU) before the closing time.
Keeping track detikcom at DKI Jakarta General Election Commission Building (KPU), Jalan Salemba Raya, Senen, Central Jakarta, Dharma and Kun arrived at 23.07 WIB. Both of them provided physical and digital supporting files regarding the application in Jakarta.
Wearing Betawi suits complete with beskap, Dharma and Kun greeted supporters who had waited until 23.00 WIB. Dharma admitted that he had carefully prepared his gubernatorial election registration documents.
“The team has prepared everything, files, Excel,” Dharma told reporters, Sunday afternoon (12/5/2024).
At approximately 23.12 WIB the DKI KPU received the arrival of Dharma and Kun. The KPU said it would first verify the supporting files submitted by the applicant couples.
Dharma said he wanted to run in the 2024 provincial elections for the welfare of the people of DKI. He described his spirit as the spirit of the Prophet Moses.
“If we believe in God, just do our best to fight for the people of Jakarta, don’t change the outcome. Be like Moses, Moses never knew that he would face the red sea. Let God open the way,” he said.
Previously, DKI Jakarta KPU Commissioner Doddy Wijaya said he will close registration for individual or independent gubernatorial candidates (cagub) today. He reminded the gubernatorial candidates who want to register to run for the DKI 2024 regional elections to fulfill the requirements before it closes at 23.59 WIB, Sunday (12/5).
“Today is the last day of registration to submit minimum support requirements for individual candidates for governor or deputy governor in DKI Jakarta Division,” Doddy told reporters at the DKI KPU Building.
