Saxony tightened the contact restrictions from January 11th. All applicable regulations regarding exit restrictions, retail, daycare centers, schools, etc. remain in place. As Saxony’s Minister of Health, Petra Köpping, said at a press conference on Tuesday evening, the overall numbers must be reduced significantly in order to ensure that the health authorities can follow up and the situation in the hospitals must relax.

Prime Minister Kretschmer called the resolutions following the federal-state conference “tough”. Saxony in particular is facing “the most difficult, the toughest months of this pandemic”. The Free State will go a hard way to reduce the number of infections.
