Magdeburg (dpa / sa) – Parents in Saxony-Anhalt will have to wear mouth and nose protection when they bring their children to or from daycare. This is provided by new corona protection rules that the Ministry of Health published in Magdeburg on Tuesday. Accordingly, parents and other visitors to the daycare centers have to wear masks to protect children and staff. All rooms in which children are looked after must be ventilated three times an hour for at least five minutes. Children who have obvious cold symptoms may continue to be cared for.
With the recommendations, the ministry is reacting to the current high number of corona infections. The guidelines are intended to help keep daycare centers open for as long as possible and to avoid closings like in spring. The new corona rules are to be implemented by the facilities during the week. Since Monday, everyone in schools has to wear a mask – except in actual lessons.
For the after-school care centers, the plan provides that the children and young people are looked after in the same groups as in the school. This so-called cohort formation is intended to reduce contacts. Children in a cohort do not have to keep the safety distance of 1.5 meters. However, they should keep their distance from all other supervised groups. If this is not possible because of the premises, mouth and nose protection must be worn.
