Judging by their Works: Examining the Hypocrisy of Political Judgments

Judge not, lest ye be judged, and by their works ye shall know them, and it is written in the most published book of all time

In the summer of 1983, I was looking forward to getting out of the barracks. To leave behind the most meaningless two years of my life, in which the only meaningful things I did were to read the selected works of Bertold Brecht and Oscar Wilde (there was nothing else in the library of the tank brigade in Karlovo except the battle statutes of the People’s army) and that I learned to receive and transmit Morse code at 65 characters per minute. Out of pure ambition, this was the norm for “excellent”. After that, it only served me to brag to my boyfriends while we cuddled up on the couch watching Independence Day.

One of the sets gave me the wisdom to apply for study abroad. I applied, they accepted me for the USSR, I had, after all, graduated from Russian in Plovdiv. That meant almost a month early for me to be fired. And

I go to the district office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Plovdiv,

to get my international passport. I must have signed fifteen documents without even looking at what I was signing, because I had had enough of the green-stocking hatters.

We are moving in December 2009. I have been the head of the “Sports” department at “24 Chasa” for 12 years. A law has been passed according to which the heads of the media must also be checked under the State Security Involvement Act. And I suddenly remembered that moment when, because of one month less barracks, I signed those documents. And I say to myself: “Well, what if I signed that I was ready to cooperate with the State Security authorities?” I burned out.” Thank God, no.

I’m telling you all this about the hysteria on the part of the yellow-clad smart beauty regarding the candidate for mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev. His grandfather, his grandfather’s brother, his father and his uncle were in State Security. Excuse me, but Simeon II, where the communists kicked him out of Bulgaria when he was two years old, and then he did business with them for a government.

Hristo Ivanov, the face (or something else) of the yellow-clad smart beauty in question – minister of Boyko Borisov and a coalition with the communists.

And now you are explaining to me that someone with a grandfather and uncles from DS cannot rule Sofia. As the most published book of all time says, judge not lest ye be judged, and

by their works you shall know them

So enough with DS gum and “red nomenclature”. Because the economic minister of “dollar = 3000 BGN.” is an MP and mastermind of the BSP.

And other. Another monument to the great football player Georgi Asparuhov was recently discovered. “24 hours” brought out another unknown fact surrounding his death – what great athletes sent condolence telegrams. For the record – Gundy is a State Security major…
