It’s boiling between Turkey and France. Macron wants a fight against radical Islam

Tens of thousands of people are protesting in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq and many other countries. In some places, police had to intervene against the protesters.

France allegedly insults the Prophet Muhammad and discriminates against Muslims. They are also bothered by President Macron’s statement that Islam needs to be reformed. “We have no enemies in any country, but we are angry at the insults of our prophet by the French president. We will not allow this,” said a Syrian resident.

People burn Macron’s photos and French flags. According to Turkish President Erdogan, the French president needs an investigation and the representatives of the European Union are right-wing extremists.

“You are fascists in the true sense of the word. You are the link in the Nazi chain,” Erdogan told the EU. “I urge my people not to buy any French goods,” he said angrily.

In many places, French products have already disappeared from the counters. But Macron says he is only defending freedom of speech. “The president has said nothing against Muslims in general. Muslims are part of our society,” said Macrona, French Culture Minister Roselyne Bachelot.

The French president was represented by the European Commission and representatives of other European countries. “We stand for France, which we also want to express solidarity with in connection with President Erdogan’s personal attacks on President Macron. I think they are mundane and absolutely unacceptable,” said German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

The whole controversy began after the brutal murder of a teacher who showed the pupils cartoons of the prophet. The French government then decided to fight radical Islam, and police arrested many suspects. They also closed a mosque that allegedly spread radical Islam.

This further increases tensions between the European Union and Turkey. Reconnaissance cruises of Turkish ships, which are said to be looking for mineral resources in the disputed waters with Greece, as well as support for Azerbaijan by Turkey in the conflict with Armenia, have recently added fuel to the fire.
