“iPad Pro and 13-inch MacBook Pro get new keyboard”

Apple will tackle the keyboard problem (including the MacBook Pro) a bit more broadly in 2020, according to DigiTimes know. The consumer would already notice this in the first half of 2020.

If we can believe the information, Apple will apply the Scissor Switch keyboard to a number of products in the first half of this year. It would be a new version of the Smart Keyboard (iPad Pro) and a new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple further solves MacBook Pro problem

With the arrival of the Magic Keyboard, the keyboard with Scissor Switch keys, Apple solves a major problem. After years of unreliability and controversy of the keyboard with butterfly mechanism, the Cupertino company seems to have finally solved the problem. This time not by holding onto the keyboard and trying to improve it, but simply by aiming it into the click. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is equipped with a new keyboard and this is received extremely positively. Not very surprising considering that the butterfly keyboard really was no longer possible and that it has many similarities with the external Magic Keyboard from Apple.

Reason enough to continue the trend. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted that Apple will provide all MacBook models with a new keyboard in 2020 and now DigiTimes says a new 13-inch MacBook Pro will be launched in the first half of 2020. A new MacBook model also appeared at the Eurasian Economic Commission, which may just be this specific new model.

iPad Pro gets a new Smart Keyboard

As mentioned, the iPad Pro will also be upgraded in 2020. According to the source, the arrival of this new version is accompanied by a brand new Smart Keyboard. This new model would have illuminated keys, as we know it from the MacBook models at the moment.

With the arrival of the 2018 iPad Pro, the Apple Pencil was also substantially renewed, but the Smart Keyboard lagged a bit behind. For example, few new functions were introduced for the external keyboard, but the upgrade focused mainly on supporting the new form factor of the iPad Pro. This could change in 2020.
