Police India make new arrests related to cases murder a Hindu man who supports politicians Partai Bharatiya Janata (BJP) which insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Police announced that they had arrested the main mastermind behind the murder.
As reported Reuters, Saturday (2/7/2022), this case increased the tension between the Hindu majority and the Muslim minority in India. In order to prevent sectarian unrest, Indian authorities have banned gatherings and temporarily cut off access to the internet.
Three senior police officials in Udaipur, the scene of the killings, announced on Saturday (2/7) local time that two Muslim men were arrested on suspicion of plotting to kill a Hindu man who was a tailor.
The killings were carried out by two other Muslim men, who were already detained by the police, after the heinous crime took place in the victim’s sewing shop in Udaipur last week. Udaipur itself is a popular tourist destination filled with lakes and hotels.
“We have now arrested the two main masterminds and previously we have arrested the two men who carried out this heinous crime,” senior Udaipur Police official Prafulla Kumar said in a statement.
Kumar added that internet services were gradually being restored and security forces were on standby following the killing. Previous reports mention victims beheaded with a large knife by the two assailants, who filmed the heinous act on camera and the video was uploaded online.
The perpetrators of the murders said their heinous act was a response to the support the victim gave to Mr Nupur Sharmaa politician and BJP spokesman who was sacked from office after sparking controversy with his insulting remarks about the Prophet Muhammad during a local television debate.
